Privacy policy

LunaCat records and predicts your menstrual cycle. Because what it holds is highly sensitive health information, all of your data is currently kept on your device and is not transmitted anywhere.

Full policy

1. Information we process

LunaCat processes the following information, which you enter yourself, entirely on your device.

• Period start dates and period length
• Symptom, mood, and vaginal discharge logs
• Sex and contraception logs
• Whether you took an oral contraceptive pill
• Optional onboarding answers such as your goals and birth year

All of the above is sensitive health information. We never collect your name, email address, phone number, location, or any advertising identifier.

2. Where your data is stored

At present all data is stored in local storage on your device.

• It is not transmitted anywhere.
• It is not backed up to any cloud we operate.
• It is not shared with or sold to third parties.
• It is not used for advertising.

If you have your device’s own backup feature enabled (iCloud Backup, Google Backup, and similar), app data may be included in that backup. That is an arrangement between you and your operating system provider, and LunaCat cannot access data held there.

3. Security

• Protected by your device’s own encryption (iOS Data Protection, Android file-based encryption).
• App lock (Face ID or fingerprint) can require authentication before the app opens.
• Screenshot and screen-recording blocking, plus hidden notification content, reduce on-screen exposure.

4. Your rights

You can do all of the following at any time.

• Export your data: Settings › Export my data saves your full history as JSON.
• Delete your data: Settings › Delete all data erases every record immediately and permanently.
• Deleting the app removes all data stored on the device with it.
• Share your fertile window: Home › Next period › Share with your partner turns your expected ovulation, fertile window and (if you choose) your logged moods and symptoms into a card image that you send through your device’s own share sheet. The card is built on the device and never passes through our servers. You choose which app it goes to, and LunaCat cannot retrieve it afterwards.

Because no copy of your data exists on a server, you do not need to contact us to access, correct, or delete it — you can do all of it yourself, instantly.

5. Third-party services

At present LunaCat contains no analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs.

• No analytics tools (Google Analytics or similar)
• No social login SDKs
• No ad networks
• No behavioural tracking or cross-device identification

LunaCat can connect to your phone’s health app — Apple Health on iPhone, Health Connect on Android. If you turn it on in Settings, LunaCat imports or saves your period records there. Both are stores that live on this device, not servers — your records still never leave your phone. If you leave it off, LunaCat never requests the permission and never reads or writes anything. Only period dates are exchanged; symptoms, moods and intimacy logs are not.

6. Notifications

Notifications are sent only if you turn them on, and every notification is scheduled and delivered on your device. No data leaves the device to generate a notification, and we do not use remote push notifications.

Turning on 'Hide notification content' in Settings keeps the details off your lock screen. You can switch notifications off at any time in Settings.

7. Children

LunaCat is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where local law sets that age), and we do not knowingly collect children’s personal information. The app does not currently transmit personally identifying information anywhere, and we hold no children’s data.

8. Medical disclaimer

LunaCat is not a medical device. The cycle predictions, fertile window and ovulation estimates, and health information it provides are for general guidance and do not replace medical diagnosis or treatment.

In particular, fertile window predictions are not a method of contraception. Always consult a healthcare professional about decisions relating to pregnancy, contraception, or illness.

9. Changes to this policy

What the app handles, and how, may change as it grows. If this policy changes we will let you know through an app update and on the public policy page, and if what we collect or how we process it changes materially, we will ask for your consent again inside the app.
